  1. Wow, the Leaf has totally faded in the Netherlands... they better come out with their extended-range version sooner rather than later.

    1. There will be no extended range LEAF.

The i3 is proving to be good competition for the LEAF. More competition = good.

-In total, 5x as much fully electric vehicles were sold in February as the same month a year ago. (and then I'm counting the i3 as a fully electric vehicle, as there is no breakdown in sales for the one with and without REx)

  2. Netherlands is a special case, where pure electric cars have little success compared with plug-in hybrids.

  3. The Netherlands is a special case as serious taxes breaks changed at the end of 2013, pushing sales to be finaled before the end of the year. Introduction of the Outlander PHEV was delayed in some countries to meet demand in the Netherlands. It's only logical (PH)EV sales are down for the first months. I expect them to pick up again as lease contracts of ICE cars come to a natural end instead of the fiscally induced one.

  4. I think the Ampera is in dire need of a substantial price cut. It's impossible for people to resist the bigger and cheaper Outlander. I am much more a fan of small cars, but most people want to drive a mastodont.

  5. Netherlands electric vehicle market is an interesting one. The dutch have little success in contrast to plug-in hybrids but Netherlands is remaining a major electric vehicle market.

    1. You can say it's one of the most intriguing markets, not only because of the domination of PHEV's, but it's also one of the most dynamic, with constant shifts in tastes and best sellers:

      2010 - #1 Think City / #2 Tesla Roadster / #3 Mitsu I-Miev
      2011 - #1 Nissan Leaf / #2 Smart Fortwo ED / #3 Peugeot iOn
      2012 - #1 Opel Ampera / #2 Toyota Prius Plug-In / #3 Chevrolet Volt
      2013 - #1 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV / #2 - Volvo V60 Plug-In / #3 T. Prius Plug-In

  6. Seems that despite the lower fiscal stimulus, the Outlander is picking up again - 931 have been sold in March.
