Canada February 2014


Solid as a Rock Edition

While in other countries the Volt family sales are falling, in Canada the Chevrolet Volt continues firmly in #1 (For the fifth month in a row) with 98 units sold and 49% share.

The Nissan Leaf is Second, jumping to 64 sales and distancing itself from the Model S (20 units).

Hard times for the Prius: After selling in January only 4 Units, this month it registered again 4 units...

    Thanks for this great blog, I find it by far the best way to track the advance of EVs.
    Just curious where you get the underlying data - how much comes from car registrations vs. self-reporting by auto OEMs to trade groups? For example, Tesla doesn't self-report (I don't think) but I see Tesla sales being captured in Canada, Norway, Germany, Holland, etc. Thanks for any details.

Data sources vary from country to country, just like their accuracy, taking Tesla as an example, while in Europe there's official numbers from state-owned agencies or trade groups, in the US or Canada the source comes from websites (insideevs, greencarreports, etc) that make their sales estimates from VIN numbers or other kind of tracking methods.
